Our Story

Rooted in Italy. Shared in America.

Attimo was born from founder Jon Schlegel’s time living in Piedmont, Italy, with his family in the heart of Barolo country.

While there, Jon immersed himself in the rhythms of vineyard life — learning from local winemakers, understanding their traditions, and developing lifelong friendships with the people who pour their hearts into every harvest.

The name Attimo means “moment” in Italian — inspired by the giant red bench that overlooks the medieval town of Monforte d’Alba, inviting everyone to “prende un attimo” — to pause, relax, and savor life.

That philosophy became the heart of the Attimo brand: to bring authentic Northern Italian wines to new audiences in the U.S., starting in Colorado, and to do so in a way that honors Italy’s generosity, warmth, and joy.

Each bottle tells the story of partnership and passion — of Italian grapes, Italian craft, and the shared belief that every moment, no matter how small, deserves to be savored.

“Attimo is more than a wine — it’s a reminder to pause, savor, and celebrate life’s simple joys.”

— Jon Schlegel, Founder

The Red Bench Inspiration

“Prende un attimo” — take a moment.

Attimo's Red Bench

Overlooking the medieval village of Monforte d’Alba, a giant red bench sits among the vineyards, inviting everyone who climbs up to pause, breathe, and take in the beauty of the land.

It was there, surrounded by the hills of Barolo and the rhythm of Italian life, that Jon found inspiration for Attimo — a brand built on the belief that life’s richest moments are meant to be savored, not rushed.

That spirit lives in every bottle — a quiet reminder to slow down, share generously, and celebrate the beauty in a single, fleeting moment.
